I've got new installation troubles. In december I bought myself a Nord Modular (nice stuff), and its patch editor uses heavy midi traffic to work.
When I came home, I attempted to update its firmware (via midi). It didn't work. I tried it with a friends' ews64xl. It did work.
From that moment I knew there was something wrong with my ews64xl. I noticed 'stuck notes' with a midi-keyboard earlier, but I always thought that it was due to some buge here or there. I tried it over with his frontpanel on my ews. That did work too.
Last week Terratec Support (yeah, they do exist) send me a new frontpanel in exchange. It was marked as version 1.21. Before, I had a 1.2 AFAIK.
Now I have problems with enabling midi-2 again. The control-panel/devices indicate that the resources are assigned and not conflicting (I assigned a free IRQ). The midi-2 device warns that it 'could not be loaded', error code 2.
I tried enabling/disabling pnp in bios, remove64, and swapping IRQ with the synth.
A final note: the Modular-patch-editor doesn't connect reliable with midi-1. Each 10-15 minutes I get a 'disconnect' in the editor. I still hope Midi-2 performs better than Midi-1.

Any users with relevant experiences, solutions, hints?
    Thanks a lot.

sorry, I should have RTFM! I'll try tomorrow to enable the codec to enable midi-2.
Damn this card is complex. Whoever designs a card that uses 3 irq's to be able to activate the 2nd irq?
The codec is totally useless for me. (Or did someone discover the hidden trim knob for the mic-input and the hidden 48V phantom power switch?)

Arnoud, if I didn't find the solution on this site, where would I have found it... thanks!

    Talking

    You're welcome! wink
But remember that a lot (!) of information comes from other users and... members of the Terratec support team smile that never get tired of answering tons of questions that have been sent to me by other users.
Anyway, good luck with your music.
    Arnoud.

I noticed that the midi-2 port didn't work as it should.
The Nord Modular is a machine that depends on a near-maximum bandwidth midi stream to use its patch editor.
That patch-editor failed on both midi-1 and midi-2 ports, but I noticed that others ran the editor with the midi-2-ports of an ews64xl without problems.
After a long wait for a front-panel-replacement, I faild to reinstall the midi-2 port, but the solution can be found on www.ews64.com.
Now, I can use the nord-modular-patch-editor with the midi-2-ports. Midi-1 keeps failing, but 'works enough' for my keyboard.
